Doha’s food scene continues to go from strength to strength, with the city thriving after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The capital’s a global player in every sense but its already impressive array of dining options has just gone up a gear, with the arrival of the first deluxe Georgian restaurant in Qatar.

Situated in the heart of the Printemps department store, Mosavali combines the best of Georgian tastes with a touch of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours.

The restaurant currently employs around 80 people, and the company also owns a second restaurant in Doha aimed at the middle segment.

"Vila Mosavali" is looking to expand its network, with negotiations underway with business circles in several countries, but the general manager notes that this is a difficult and careful process. The brand is currently represented in Georgia by one facility in Natakhtari.

Dishes come from the influence of Mediterranean world, Arabian and Persian kitchens, stretching as far as Northern India, yet with authentic Georgian flavours.

Mosavali Doha offers up one of Georgia’s most traditional feasts – Supra.

Must-try plates include Adjarian Khachapuri – a doughy dish that resembles a boat, the inside of which is filled with melted cheese, butter and egg yolk – to reflect the bright sun of the Black Sea region.

Another standout option is the beef kharcho – a thick walnut stew made with traditional Georgian spices such as dried savory, fenugreek and marigold, served with cornmeal croquets.

The interior design concept aims to introduce Georgian cultural heritage to Doha – with traditional ornaments, curved wooden ceilings and carefully-selected Black Sea art.

It’s the latest project from Georgia’s Villa Mosavali Group, with its parent restaurant considered one of the country’s favourite culinary destinations.

Villa Mosavali Group’s owner, Mikheil Shekriladze, said, “We aim to introduce the values of Georgia: cuisine, interior details and traditional clothes.

And we strive to highlight the bright differences of Georgian culture and express these features in one place.”
