“We can safely say that the Georgian olive industry has occupied its niche both inside the country and abroad,” Giorgi Svanidze, head of the International Olive Council, says.
According
to him, the process was phased.
“At
the initial stage, we brought
seedlings, established plantations, got
the harvest, built a processing plant, today we
have a world international certificate with which we
can sell Georgian olives in any country. Our product is
exported at a high price,” he notes.
In Svanidze’s words, after the cycle was formed, it began to work in full force, today it can be said with confidence that the production of olives has occupied its niche both in Georgia and worldwide.
“Olives are grown in 47 countries of the world, the rest are importers. Our olives are in great demand in importing countries, where the Georgian product due to its high quality has a high level of recognition,” points out Giorgi Svanidze.
