As of March 31, 2023, the central bank’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to $ 5,003,000,000 that is a record high. Compared to the same period of last year, the reserves have increased by $ 973 million or 24%. Compared to the previous month, reserves volume increased by 6.0% (+$ 283.6 million).

The change in reserves volume is caused by the foreign exchange operations by government and the banking sector, as well as the purchase of foreign currency by NBG.

The National Bank’s international reserves hit a historic high on December 31, 2022 and amounted to $ 4.9 billion.
