Only 18% of the Georgian population have private health insurance. According to the State Insurance Supervision Service, 682,152 health insurance policies were in force in 12 months of 2022. In 2021, the number of policies made 637,953 or 17% of the population.


18 insurance companies operating in Georgia have earned GEL 375.4 million in health insurance premiums this year. Last year, GPI Holding led with GEL 98.1 million, followed by Imedi L (GEL 62.1 million) and Ardi (GEL 67 million).


In 2021, the volume of premiums raised in health insurance amounted to GEL 305.5 million.




In 2022, 18 insurance companies earned GEL 210.3 million in profit, net profit — GEL 39.2 million (in 2021 — GEL 40 million). The total amount of assets of insurance companies stood at GEL 1.105 billion, capital - GEL 343.2 million.
